CRUSH IT! PHILOSOPHY
The Crush It! Team is a group of highly passionate, authentic, engaging and “results focused” former athletes, sports writers, sports TV personalities and communication coaches that do ONE thing amazingly well - coach athletes to extraordinary levels of communication greatness. Let us design the plays “off the field” and do the “blocking and tackling” with your athletes to make them great in all communication and media situations.
Our mantra - 'Always Crushin' - instills in athletes at all levels from – high school to the pros - the power of ALWAYS being in a “Game On” mindset ready for any exchange of questions, comments and communication opportunities with fans and media; especially in those clutch situations when an athlete's reaction is all that matters.
Let the Crush It! Sports Media Training Program bring out your team’s greatness off the playing field. We know you have it covered once the game begins.
CRUSH IT! COACHING STAFF
After spending more than a quarter-century in the sports media, Drew Olson founded Crush It! Sports Media Training with help from his friend and former college basketball teammate, John Smilanich. Olson began his career as a sports clerk at The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, where he covered a variety of high school, college minor-league and professional sports before beginning a 12-year stint covering the Milwaukee Brewers. In 2004, Olson served as President of the Baseball Writers Association of America and presented the Ford C. Frick Award at the annual induction ceremony in Cooperstown, N.Y.
During his stint at the newspaper, Olson became a regular guest on the popular "Bob & Brian in the Morning" show on WHQG-FM, a stint that led to an 11-year run as midday host of "The D-List" and "The Drew Olson Show" on ESPN Milwaukee (WAUK-AM). Olson also worked as senior editor / columnist at OnMilwaukee.com, as a sideline reporter for Brewers and Milwaukee Bucks games on Fox Sports Wisconsin and is currently a co-star of "Big 12 Sports Saturday," a weekly sports show that airs on WISN-TV in Milwaukee. In the spring of 2016, Olson teamed with Brewers TV analyst Bill Schroeder on a book, "If These Walls Could Talk: Stories from the Milwaukee Brewers Dugout, Locker Room and Press Box,"
A former college basketball team captain, John Smilanich followed a successful career on the court by pursuing excellence in the business world. As a 30-year sales and marketing executive, Smilanich has done presentations in front of hundreds of corporations from the front line to the C-level suite. The author of several adult learning programs focusing on sales, leadership, customer service and presentation skills training, Smilanich has made a career of helping others realize their potential through training and development.
